Printing Fabrication of a Bucky Gel Actuator/Sensor and Its Application to Three-Dimensional Patterned Devices

چکیده
A bucky gel actuator is a novel electro-active polymer (EAP), which is a low-voltage-driven dry soft actuator. In addition, the bucky gel device generates electromotive force when bending and then it can also be used as a sensor. Its device has a bimorph structure with polymer-supported bucky gel electrodes and a polymersupported ionic gel electrolyte. It can be fabricated by layer-by-layer casting to easily form any shape. In this paper, we demonstrate an automatic fabrication method of bucky gel devices based on a printing method. By using a dispensing machine, we construct the printing system and the manual forming process is replaced with automatic printing. We investigate the printing of complicated shapes and three-dimensional electrode patterns through experiments. © Koninklijke Brill NV, Leiden and The Robotics Society of Japan, 2010

Nanowires (NWs) are recently used in several sensor or actuator devices to improve their ordered characteristics. Silicon nanowire (Si NW) is one of the most attractive one-dimensional nanostructures semiconductors because of its unique electrical and optical properties. In this paper, silicon nanowire (Si NW), is synthesized and characterized for application in photovoltaic device. Si NWs are ...
متن کاملSimple and Smart Microfluidic Gel Actuator
We proposed an innovative simple and smart microfluidic gel actuator, which is made of photoprocessible thermoresponsible gel, for the disposable biomedical chip application. The smart gel is called “Bioresist”, and arbitral shape with micrometer order can be patterned on microfluidic chip by standard photolithography technique. Furthermore, the proposed actuator can be actuated only by heating...
متن کاملInk-Jet Printing of Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS)
Beyond printing text on paper, inkjet printing methods have recently been applied to print passive electrical and optical microparts, such as conductors, resistors, solder bumps and polymeric micro lenses. They are also useful to print micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) as sub-millimeter sensor and actuator arrays, such as multifunctional skins applicable to robotic application and ambient...
متن کاملFabrication of Capacitive Acoustic Resonators Combining 3D Printing and 2D Inkjet Printing Techniques
A capacitive acoustic resonator developed by combining three-dimensional (3D) printing and two-dimensional (2D) printed electronics technique is described. During this work, a patterned bottom structure with rigid backplate and cavity is fabricated directly by a 3D printing method, and then a direct write inkjet printing technique has been employed to print a silver conductive layer. A novel ap...
متن کاملFabrication of Three-dimensional Microfluidic Channels in a Single Layer of Cellulose Paper
This paper reports a novel technique for fabricating three-dimensional (3D) microfluidic channels in a single sheet of paper, which greatly simplifies the fabrication process of 3D microfluidic paper-based analytical devices (3D-μPADs). This technique, derived from the popular wax printing technique for paper channel patterning, is capable of controlling the penetration depth of wax upon heatin...
